SkySutra, India’s newest boutique carrier, proudly announces its official launch today, headquartered at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi. With a vision to thread the diverse corners of India together through seamless air connectivity, SkySutra introduces a fleet of 30 McDonnell Douglas MD-88 aircraft, ready to serve the nation with style, comfort, and reliability.
The airline’s inaugural aircraft arrived earlier this week and is already being prepped for service. Tailored in a unique Business + Leisure configuration, SkySutra’s cabins offer generous space for business travelers and upgraded comfort for leisure passengers—striking the perfect balance for today’s domestic flyers.
“SkySutra is more than an airline—it’s a promise to reconnect India’s vibrant cities and people with purpose and warmth,” said the founding CEO. “Our MD-88 fleet may be classic in design, but with our service and attention to detail, every flight will feel refreshingly new.”
SkySutra will begin operations with an initial network of high-frequency routes out of Delhi to key metros including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, with further expansion planned in phases.
The airline’s name, SkySutra, symbolizes the sacred thread that binds, reflecting its mission to unite people, stories, and destinations with care and consistency.
